The Client
Source Supplies is a Surrey-based supplier of commercial janitorial and cleaning products, and it also runs a washroom services division. Founded in 2005, it has around 30 employees and turns over about £7 million.
Its customers are mainly facilities management companies, especially commercial cleaning firms, plus many education sector organisations. For nearly a decade, Source Supplies has been making sustainable changes across its operations and talking openly about them.
The Challenge
Source Supplies had sustainable practices and had already done its first carbon report, but it lacked a recognised certification to prove its wider commitment. When major customers asked about its credentials, the business had little to show.
Expectations across the sector were also rising: some tenders were now open only to B Corp companies, and its largest customer expected suppliers to match its own standards.
With no one in the team dedicated to the project, the business had held off on B Corp because of worries about workload, time and resources.
The Solution
